A friend of mine died this week, but I can say it has to be one of the most beautiful stories I have ever known. Cindy had been struggling with Christianity and her beliefs for a long time. I was blessed to get to know her a couple years ago when she began attending our church in Alabama. The definition of a "seeker", she did not believe in God or Christ but decided to look into the concept. After countless discussions with our pastor over the course of a couple years, it was only last month when Cindy decided to give her life to Jesus. Last Friday she was baptized, 5 days later she died from an aortic aneurysm. The timing is both inexplicable and purely God.
Cindy, I am thankful that God now holds you, that your faith is now sight, and that I was blessed enough to know you for an all-too brief time. By the way, thank you again for the quilt, I will cherish it forever.
Friends, remember that we are here for God. We were created to reflect His glory. The only certainty about tomorrow is that God's love remains, and we can choose an eternity in paradise by simply accepting his grace.
in Christ,
Mitch
We are certainly here for God - and He uses us to perfectly complete His glory, but its so hard for us to see that whole picture sometimes. I'm watching a whirlwind of storms circling my world, none that are directly impacting me but those that I dearly love. The most comfort I can give is my prayers, and the knowledge that they each know the Savior personally.
Our pastor has said in the past that God doesn't always bring the storms to teach us, but to further prepare us to be of greater use for Him. He does use these events, those that we cannot always understand or see the greater purpose.
When asking why must we go through these painful events, or what else can happen..... another pastor said, "It's in the script." (Dr. Fred Luter) - God knows what He's doing and the Glory He will bring to His Kingdom - we just don't always get to read the happy ending. But rest assured that for those that love Him, He will bring good from the situation (my version of Romans 8:8).
I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of your good friend, but I'm so glad to hear that you will see her again!!
